Gunmen have abducted 11 passengers, including several tertiary institution students, at the Amechi-Idodo axis of the Enugu-Abakaliki federal highway. This area has become increasingly notorious for such incidents.

A relative of one of the victims, speaking under the condition of anonymity, revealed that the kidnappers have contacted the families, demanding a ransom of N30 million to release the abducted passengers. Joshua Ukandu, the Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed that the Enugu State Police Command is aware of the incident and is actively working to address the situation.
