Enugu State residents are filled with excitement and pride as the latest urban road projects under Governor Peter Mbah’s administration are completed, transforming the city’s infrastructure. The newly completed Trade Fair Road at the Golf Estate axis of GRA Enugu stands as a proof to the governor’s commitment to urban development.
These pictorial testimonies showcasing the stunning aerial views that highlight the impressive work done, are part of the first batch of 71 urban roads delivered by Governor Peter Mbah. This significant milestone follows the governor’s earlier promise to undertake the construction and reconstruction of 71 urban roads in Enugu’s capital city. The administration has assured residents that all roads identified in this first phase will be completed by December, with funds for these projects already secured.
Governor Mbah’s administration has implemented a rigorous monitoring system to ensure that the agreed standards are met and that the projects are completed on schedule. This meticulous approach has garnered widespread approval from the residents, who are already experiencing the benefits of improved road infrastructure.
Recall that at the Mount Street/Umuchu Road junction in Idaw River, Governor Mbah symbolically commissioned the roads in the Idaw River, Uwani, and Coal Camp Zones. This event marked a historic moment for the people of Idaw River, who celebrated their first road intervention project in 52 years. The roads commissioned in this zone include Broderick Street, Silver Smith Street, Asata Mine Road, and Ogbete—Jamboree -Ajogwu Road, among others.
In the Idaw River area, significant roads such as Emeka Ebila, Idaw River Secondary School Road, Umuchu Street, Omachiani Street, Iloh Franco Street, St. Charles Street, Umu Ohachie Street, Ozoude Street, Meniru Street, and Mount Street Bypass have been completed, transforming the local landscape.
Other commissioned roads in the Uwani Zone include Bishop Anyogu Street, College Road, Edeozie Street, and Kenyatta Street to Timber Road. The Garki Zone saw the completion of St. Peter’s Road, Odudukoko Street, the Garki flyover, and four flyover ramps at the Garki and Amechi Awkunanaw flyovers.
Governor Mbah also announced a second phase of road construction, which will include 80 more roads. This ambitious plan aims to construct a minimum of 10 kilometers of road in each electoral ward, ensuring that rural areas are not left out of the state’s development agenda.
