BREAKING: Umunevo Ogui Nike Town Elects New PG, as Former Mayor, Hon Emeka Onunze Commends the Process


Today, Friday, the 12th of July 2024, the Umunevo Ogui Nike Town Union held an election that saw Prince Charles Maduekwe emerge as the new President General of the Town. Hon Okechukwu Onunze also secured the position of Secretary in this pivotal community role.

The election took place at the residence of Elder Chief Joseph Ngwu Anike, the eldest man in the town. It was lauded as one of the freest and fairest elections in the community's history, with numerous stakeholders present to observe the proceedings.

In his handover speech, the immediate past town union president, Hon Chinulu Edeh, praised Prince Charles Maduekwe, describing him as a capable and experienced leader who is well-suited to represent the community effectively. "Prince Charles Maduekwe is a Godsend," Edeh remarked. "He has the capability and experience to lead our town well and to represent our community with honor wherever he is called upon."

Hon Emeka Onunze (TATA), the immediate past Chairman of Enugu North Local Government Area, expressed his gratitude for the unity displayed within the town and the peaceful conduct of the election. He emphasized the importance of the Umunevo Ogui Nike Community within the Enugu North Local Government Council and even the Enugu East Senatorial Zone. "The peaceful and transparent election we have witnessed today is a testament to our unity and commitment to progress. Umunevo Ogui Nike Community is a key part of our local government and the entire senatorial zone," Onunze stated.


Another significant figure, Hon Chief Emma O Ngwu, another former Chairman of Enugu North Local Government Council, offered resounding and encouraging advice to the newly elected PG and the assembly of attendees. "Leadership is a great responsibility," Ngwu advised. "Prince Charles, as you step into this role, remember to always put the community first. Lead with integrity, and you will take Umunevo Ogui Nike to greater heights."

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected President General, Prince Charles Maduekwe, expressed profound gratitude for the trust placed in him by the community. "I am deeply honored by the trust you have placed in me," Maduekwe said. "I pledge to lead with integrity and dedication, promising never to disappoint those who chose me for this esteemed role. Together, we will build a brighter future for our community."

The election, which commenced around 8 AM, was conducted successfully in accordance with the community's constitution. Other notable stakeholders who graced the election included, Chief Benneth Ngwu, Elder Joseph Mbah, Elder Sunday Agbo, Surv Azubuike Agbo, Chief Chuka Agbo, and many others.

The community is optimistic that Prince Charles Maduekwe, a former permanent secretary, will excel in his new role as President General, steering Umunevo Ogui Nike Town towards a bright future.
