Whereas, during his time as governor, Ugwuanyi prioritized healthcare infrastructure in Nsukka Zone. He established the State University of Medical and Applied Sciences (SUMAS) in Igbo-Eno, Enugu State, and initiated the construction of the SUMAS Teaching Hospital. This teaching hospital, a monumental project undertaken by Ugwuanyi's administration, is now over 90% completed.

Ugwuanyi's administration built and equipped 10 units of Type 3 Healthcare Centers in Enugu State, with 5 of them located in Nsukka Zone. Specifically, two Type-3 Healthcare Centers were established in Uzo-Uwani LGA.
Ugwuanyi also constructed and equipped a substantial Amenity Ward Facility at the upgraded Ogrute General Hospital in Enugu Ezike, Igbo-Eze North LGA.
