Enugu State has achieved a remarkable feat by emerging as the most active tourism state in Nigeria for the year 2023. The recognition comes as a result the state's vigorous efforts in driving and sustaining domestic tourism. Enugu State's commitment to promoting the tourism industry was highlighted by its organization of the World Tourism Day event and the vibrant Enugu Carnival held in December, coupled with robust policy positions.
The accolade was bestowed upon Enugu State by the Seven Wonders of Nigeria (Naija7Wonders), a leading domestic tourism platform, as part of their annual recognition of top promoters of domestic tourism in Nigeria.
This prestigious honor was received by Enugu State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dame Ugochi Madueke, on behalf of the Governor at the historic National Museum Center Onikan, Lagos, on Friday, 19th of April 2024 during the 10th Wonders of Nigeria Expo.
This prestigious acknowledgment is expected to motivate Enugu State to further elevate its position in the domestic tourism industry and aspire to become one of Nigeria's top international tourism destinations.
