Enugu State is mourning the loss of one of its illustrious sons, Senator Ayogu Eze, whose demise has left a deep void in the political landscape of not just Enugu State but Nigeria as a whole. The former gubernatorial aspirant, Prince Gilbert Chikwado Chukwunta, who was also Senator Ayogu Eze's running mate in the 2019 gubernatorial election and later contested in the 2023 gubernatorial election under the platform of the PDP, expressed profound shock and sorrow over the passing of the distinguished politician.

Speaking to journalists at his Lagos residence, Prince Chikwado Chukwunta described Senator Ayogu Eze as a remarkable politician who has left an indelible mark on the political terrain of Enugu and Nigeria. He emphasized that Senator Ayogu Eze's death is not just a loss to Enugu North Senatorial District, Enugu State, but to the entire nation. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the immediate family, friends, and well-wishers of the late senator, praying for them to find the strength to bear this colossal loss.

Senator Ayogu Eze passed away on Thursday morning in an Abuja hospital after battling a protracted illness. His demise has left a palpable sense of loss not only among the people of Enugu State but also across the nation.

A thoroughbred media professional, entrepreneur, community leader, and nation-builder, Senator Ayogu Eze served Enugu State in various capacities, including as a Commissioner, before his distinguished tenure as a two-term senator. He also served on the Boards of the Nigerian Ports Authority and the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).

His contributions to the development of Enugu State and the nation at large are immeasurable, and his absence will be deeply felt, particularly at a time when the nation is in dire need of experienced and visionary leaders like him.
