Another set of Nigerian troops have been killed while fighting with bandits in Karaga and Rumace communities in Bassa ward, Shiroro local government area of Niger State.
According to FountainCareReporters, two farmers were also reported to have been killed while houses, food banks, and motorcycles were burnt by the attackers. The attack started around 9 pm on Friday and lasted for hours.
One of the sources, who didn’t want his name mentioned, said, “Six soldiers lost their lives and one volunteer hunter.”
Another source, Mustapha Bassa, said bandits in their numbers rode on motorcycles with each motorcycle carrying three people, and they shot sporadically as they moved into the communities. He stated that motorcycles, houses, and food banks were set ablaze during the attack.
Earlier this month, terrorists suspected to be from the Boko Haram sect killed at least five military personnel in an ambush. The incident happened along the Biu-Buratai-Buni Yadi road, a path that has remained a death trap, as it has witnessed a series of deadly attacks in recent times. Among those killed were a lieutenant officer, a driver, a gunner, and four other soldiers.
