In a statement made on Saturday, January 3rd, 2024, in Enugu, by the Vice President Women Support Women Community Network (WOSCONET), Mrs Patience Ezeaku on behalf of the women group expressed heartfelt commendation to the governments of Enugu and Anambra States for their collaborative efforts and swift response in addressing the case of abuse suffered by Happiness Nwafor, a young girl residing in Anambra State.
Mrs Ezeaku elaborated on the gravity of the situation, emphasizing the profound impact it had on both the local community and the broader Nigerian society. She highlighted the proactive stance taken by the Enugu State Government, through the state's Commissioner For Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Mrs Ngozi Enih and the Government of Anambra State, through their Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Hon Mrs Obinabo, in swiftly addressing the distressing situation involving Happiness Nwafor.
In her statement, WOSCONET Vice President lauded the immediate actions taken by both states' commissioners and officials, as well as the unwavering commitment displayed by the First Ladies, Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah of Enugu State and Dr. Mrs. Nonye Soludo of Anambra State, towards ensuring the well-being and recovery of the victim.
She underscored the collaborative effort between the two states as a shining example of intergovernmental cooperation and empathy, serving as a testament to the importance of solidarity and collective responsibility in safeguarding the rights and dignity of all individuals, particularly vulnerable children.
In conclusion, she expressed gratitude to both Enugu and Anambra States for their proactive response to the distressing case and called for continued cooperation and support from all stakeholders in the ongoing efforts to combat child abuse and protect the well-being of all individuals, regardless of their state of origin.
