Rt. Hon. Simon Atigwe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has clinched a resounding victory in the highly anticipated rerun election for the Igboeze North/Udenu federal constituency in Enugu State. With an electrifying display of grassroots support, Atigwe secured an impressive 23,863 votes, catapulting him to victory over his closest rival, Hon. Dennis Agbo of the Labour Party, who garnered 23,226 votes.

The stakes were high as the Court of Appeal's decision to nullify the initial election injected a surge of anticipation into the political landscape. Following the appeal filed by the APC candidate, Dr. Oby Ajih, the judicial mandate for a fresh election set the stage for a showdown of epic proportions.

Despite the reduced number of polling units earmarked for the rerun, comprising less than 30 percent of the total, the atmosphere crackled with tension, particularly in Igboeze North, the epicenter of the rerun battleground. Yet, amidst the fervor and anticipation, Atigwe's unwavering commitment to his constituents and the PDP's robust grassroots mobilization proved to be the winning formula.

As the dust settles and jubilant supporters flood the streets, Atigwe's victory stands as a testament to the power of democracy and the indomitable spirit of the Nigerian electorate. With a fresh mandate in hand, Atigwe now embarks on a new chapter of service, poised to deliver on his promises and champion the aspirations of the people.
