The First Lady of Enugu State, Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah, in her usual heartwarming display of compassion, reached out to the heavens and touched the lives of a family blessed with quadruplets, cleared their hospital bills with gratitude to God for wiping away their tears that had lingered for a decade.
The tale of Mr. and Mrs. Johnson TobeChukwu Eze unfolds like a sacred journey of patience and hope. After nine years of longing for the pitter-patter of tiny feet, their prayers were answered on December 6, 2023, at St. Patrick Hospital in Enugu. Quadruplets, a celestial gift, arrived on the 10th anniversary of their fervent prayers.
Delivered through a cesarean section at 34 weeks, the newborns, a little prince, and three precious princesses, entered a world of incubators. The joyous occasion, however, was shrouded in financial despair as the hospital bill soared over three million naira. Tragically, the family's joy was tempered by the loss of one of the babies.
Her Excellency, Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah, the epitome of grace and compassion, upon learning of the Eze family's predicament, the First Lady stepped in on Saturday, January 20, 2024, with an outpouring of support. Represented by her senior aides, Dr. Uzoamaka Okenwa, Charles Edioke, Mrs. Ifeoma Amadi, Favour Nwosu, and the media team, Mrs. Mbah not only settled the hefty hospital bill but shared in the family's joy and sorrow.
Mrs. Eze, overwhelmed with gratitude, expressed her profound thanks to the benevolent First Lady. Her heartfelt words echoed prayers for blessings upon Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah and her esteemed husband, Governor Dr. Peter Mbah.
Assuring the Eze family of enduring support and prayers, Mrs. Mbah fervently prayed that the remaining three bundles of joy would bring perpetual happiness to the home. As the Eze family was discharged, the air was filled not only with the cries of infants but also with the echoes of compassion that had mended broken spirits.
In this act of kindness, the Enugu First Lady, Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah, has painted a portrait of empathy and humanity, reminding us all that amidst the challenges of life, the bonds of compassion can light up the darkest corners.
