TRAGEDY STRIKES: Local Government Chairman Passes Away in Egyptian Hospital


In a shocking news, a sitting Local Government Chairman has breathed his last in an Egyptian hospital, Alhaji Aliyu Usman Haruna, aged 58.  

Governor Muhammadu Yahaya of Gombe State expressed profound sadness upon receiving the disheartening news.

The unfortunate demise occurred on Tuesday, with Governor Yahaya describing the loss as not only a blow to the chairman's family but a monumental setback for Gombe State and the entire nation. In an official statement, Yahaya reminisced about Haruna's qualities, hailing him as a confidant, honest, and loyal associate.

The governor emphasized that the impact of Alhaji Haruna's death extends beyond the confines of one community, resonating across the entire state. Haruna, recognized for his humility and remarkable leadership, served the nation diligently in various capacities, earning the respect and admiration of many.

As details regarding the funeral prayer are yet to be communicated, Governor Yahaya extended heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, the people of Gombe Local Government, and the entire state. He acknowledged Haruna's commitment to the welfare of his people throughout his tenure as both elected and Caretaker Chairman of Gombe Local Government Council.

Born on June 2, 1965, Alhaji Aliyu Haruna, affectionately known as Ali Ashaka, leaves behind two wives and sixteen children. As Gombe mourns the loss of a dedicated leader, Governor Yahaya concluded the statement with a prayer, "As we mourn this huge loss, we pray to Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and reward his good deeds with Aljannat Firdaus."
