The Enugu State Governor, His Excellency, Barr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and Major General HT DADA, the General Officer commanding 82 Division, inaugurated Golden Dawn 3 in Eke community, Udi local Government Area of Enugu State on Tuesday. Brigadier General MM Abu, the commander sector 1, represented the GOC at the flag-off ceremony.
In a gesture of gratitude, Hon. Nze Philip Nnamdi Okoh, the Executive Chairman of UDI LGA, expressed appreciation to His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the Governor of Enugu State, for prioritizing the safety of Udi from criminal activities.
Hon. Nze Philip Okoh specifically thanked the Secretary to Enugu State Government, Prof Chidiebere Onyia, who represented the Governor at the event. The flag-off marks the establishment of a Nigeria Army Base, serving as a Tactical Operation Base for Rescue and Speed Intervention to bolster security in the region.
The initiative aims to implement 24-hour surveillance by the Nigerian Army, enhance the community's security architecture, maintain consistent roadblocks, and conduct steady forest patrols. These measures collectively seek to establish a sustained peaceful atmosphere in Udi and its environs.
Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah reiterated his commitment to securing Udi and all other Local Government Areas in Enugu State. The strategic placement of the military base is expected to fortify the region and contribute to the overall safety and well-being of the local residents.
