Enugu State Police have confirmed the arrest of Somadina Orji for the gruesome murder of his own mother, Mrs. Charity Orji, and younger sister, Miss Ukamaka Orji. The heinous crime unfolded in Umuagu Inyi, located in the Oji River Local Government Area.
According to reports from various sources, the incident occurred on December 4, stemming from a long-standing family dispute. Tensions escalated when Somadina, reportedly harboring animosity towards his brother, sought to take drastic measures. His mother intervened, triggering a feud that ultimately led to a tragic outcome.
Miss Ukamaka Orji went missing weeks before the horrifying incident, prompting concerns within the family. On December 4, Mrs. Charity Orji mysteriously disappeared, intensifying fears. The brother, alarmed by the consecutive disappearances, raised the alert, prompting a community-wide search.
Villagers discovered Somadina and, upon investigation, he confessed to the chilling act. He disclosed that he had murdered his sister weeks prior and later his mother, burying them in shallow graves in their own backyard.
Enugu State Police Command's spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, stated, "The suspect has been arrested, and the case is under investigation. The suspect would be prosecuted once investigations are concluded."
