ENUGU GOV'T FROWNS AGAINST DAMAGE OF PUBLIC UTILITIES BY CONTRACTORS

In a stern public service announcement, the Enugu State Government expresses deep concern over the rampant destruction of public utilities during various construction activities. The government warns that such actions will be deemed as economic sabotage, leading to severe fines and potential criminal prosecution. Additionally, an urgent meeting has been scheduled for all contractors involved in fiber optic cables and road constructions to address these concerns.

Enugu gov't frowns against damage of public utilities by contractors


The Enugu State Government has observed with dismay the indiscriminate destruction of public utilities such as water pipes, electric cables and roads by contractors and contract workers in the course of laying of fibre optic cables, road construction, mounting of billboards or any other activity that requires digging or drilling in Enugu State. 


The government hereby issues a stern warning that such destructions or damages will be treated as gross acts of economic sabotage for which the offenders shall be sanctioned with fines for full restoration of the damaged facilities, in addition to possible criminal prosecution.


Meanwhile, all contractors involved in laying of fibre optic cables and road constructions in the state are invited to an urgent meeting at the Office of the Secretary to the State Government as follows:
