NOTICE OF PROPOSED CONTROLLED EXPLOSION! Enugu State Ministry of Information and Communication Notifies the General Public Ahead the Proposed Explosion Collapsed Bridge Around New-Artisan Axis, Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway on Monday, 27|11|2023


In a joint statement, the Ministry of Information and Communication, Enugu State, and the Ministry of Works have alerted the public to an upcoming controlled explosion at the collapsed bridge near the New-Artisan Axis, Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway.

Scheduled for Monday, November 27, 2023, the controlled explosion aims to facilitate the restoration of the failed bridge. The operation will be led by the Commander Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD), in collaboration with the anti-Bomb units of the police, the Zonal Mines Officer, and DSS personnel responsible for the explosive unit.

To ensure public safety, the charging process will commence at 10 am, with the actual blasting set for 5 pm on the same day. The Ministries emphasize that this measure is vital for the well-being of residents in the vicinity and the entire Enugu community.

The announcement, signed by Aka Eze Aka, Hon. Commissioner for Information and Communication, Enugu State, and Engr Gerald Otiji, Hon. Commissioner for Works, serves as a precautionary measure to prevent unnecessary panic among citizens.

Residents and commuters are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions during the specified times. The Ministries assure the public that the controlled explosion is a necessary step towards the restoration of the collapsed bridge, ensuring the safety and connectivity of the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway.
