NIPSS Holds Opening Ceremony of Her 2023 Third Diet on Policy, Strategy and Leadership Course (PSLC 48). ....As the Director General of NIPSS, Prof. Ayo Omotayo Officially Declares the Programme Open


The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, has commenced its third diet of the Institute’s 2023 Policy, Strategy, and Leadership Course (PSLC), welcoming a new cohort of researchers in a program scheduled to run from October 30th to November 21st, 2023. This course promises an engaging curriculum filled with a wide array of topics and exciting activities.

The opening ceremony of the PSLC 48 which commenced with a facility tour of the Institute, settling into PSLC guide and course orientations was a significant event, officially inaugurated by the Director General of NIPSS, Prof. Ayo Omotayo. Prof. Omotayo seized the opportunity to address the incoming students, emphasizing the institute's fundamental purpose and importance. He engaged the students in a stimulating interactive session, encouraging them to contemplate the root causes of social and administrative issues in Nigeria and explore potential solutions.

A high-powered administrator of the institute, Brig Gen Udaya (rtd) mni, The Secretary/Director of Administration who also doubles as Secretary to the Board of Governors and  responsible for the general administration of the Institute graced the event as well as Prof. Pam Dung, 

The opening ceremony was also enriched with enlightening orientations presented by the management team of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, along with distinguished resource persons.

One of the highlights of the day occurred towards the conclusion of the opening ceremony when the students were guided on a comprehensive tour of the Institute's facilities. This tour, led by the Institute's Protocol Officer, Mr. Emmanuel Obediah, aimed to familiarize the students with the institute's environment, history, culture, procedures, and daily activities.

Expressing gratitude, Prof. Jane Ande, the Directing Staff and Head of the Department of Short Courses, who was represented by the Institute's Deputy Director of Short Courses, Mrs Sandra Agbor, conveyed her appreciation on behalf of the institute's management team. She highlighted the quality of service and impact NIPSS has had over the years, while also urging the new intake to be well-mannered and diligent in their studies.

During the event, a remarkable and highly enthusiastic young Assistant Director of Short Courses, Miss Oluwakemi Aina, took center stage to deliver the Settling-In session. With an undeniable passion for her role, Aina skillfully guided the new students as they embarked on their journey into PSLC 48.

In this informative session, Aina expertly encapsulated the essence of NIPSS, offering a concise overview of its history, organizational structure, various departments, and key officers. Her presentation not only laid the foundation for the students' understanding of the institute but also provided vital insights into the intricate network that sustains NIPSS's activities. Aina's engaging discourse didn't stop there. She went on to outline the comprehensive range of activities that encompass life at NIPSS, shedding light on the overall institute activities, short course details, and course outlines. As students eagerly listened, Aina also introduced the exciting social activities that would complement their academic pursuits, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie among the cohort.

While addressing the code of conduct and decorum expected from all participants, She emphasized the importance of maintaining a high standard of professionalism and ethics, reflecting NIPSS's commitment to nurturing well-rounded and responsible leaders. Miss Oluwakemi Aina's dynamic presentation during the Settling-In session undoubtedly set the tone for PSLC 48, ensuring that the new students not only embark on a journey of academic growth but also gain a profound understanding of NIPSS's rich history, vibrant community, and the high standards of conduct that define the institute's culture. Her energy and dedication were a testament to the institute's mission of shaping future leaders with both knowledge and character.

Other members of NIPSS's management team who participated in the opening ceremony included Mrs. Florence Adejumo, Isah Mohammed Ozi, Dajan Maksat Caleb and others.

The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, known as NIPSS, was established in 1979 through Decree number 20, now Cap N-51 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004. Its primary mission is to serve as the nation’s foremost policy think-tank, nurturing top-class technocrats with high intellectual capacity. These individuals are expected to conceptualize and anchor the implementation of innovative and dynamic policy initiatives and strategies critical for national development.

As the world rapidly evolves, NIPSS recognizes the importance of thinking globally and acting locally.
