In a continued extraordinary humanitarian effort, the Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme in Enugu State, Nigeria, has expanded its mission to offer daily free surgical services to citizens in need. This significant expansion comes following a substantial multi-million naira donation by the founder of the program, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the immediate past governor of Enugu State.
The Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme was specifically designed by Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to assist Enugu citizens who couldn't access quality medical services due to financial constraints. However, with the recent financial injection by Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the program has transitioned from weekly to daily operations, demonstrating a remarkable commitment to providing essential healthcare to those in need.
The families of the most recent beneficiaries of this healthcare initiative have voiced their deep gratitude towards Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. Among those who benefited are Diugwu Chinaemerem, a 7-year-old from Akpa Edem in Nsukka Local Government Area (08036866005), who received treatment for right Hydrocoele of the cord. Another beneficiary, Odoh Confidence, an 8-year-old from Obollo Etiti in Udenu Local Government Area (09078345252), underwent surgery for bilateral femoral hernia. Additionally, Okwor Chiemenamnchezo, a 12-year-old from Orba (09165458049), had a successful surgical operation for a strangulated right inguinal hernia. The families of these beneficiaries consider Hon. Ugwuanyi the "messiah of our time" for his crucial support.
The Programme Director, Dr. George Ajogwu, has continued to commend the driving force behind the Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme, emphasizing that Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi's unwavering commitment to funding the program is a testament to his dedication to saving the lives of Enugu citizens. According to Dr. Ajogwu, this initiative aligns with the vision of Governor Peter Mbah and his Deputy, Barr Ifeanyi Ossai, who have been consistently serving Enugu State with and full commitment to humanity.
Notably, Hon. Ugwuanyi has earned praise for continuing to sponsor this humanitarian healthcare initiative, even after leaving office as the governor of Enugu State. Dr. Ajogwu expressed his gratitude to Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Governor Peter Mbah, and Deputy Barr Ifeanyi Osaai for their exceptional contributions to the betterment of the lives of Enugu citizens, highlighting the program as an enduring legacy that will be cherished by both humanity and the divine.
