Hon. Patrick Nwabueze Ubru, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Agro Industrialisation, Visits Aninri Cassava Production & Processing Zone, Accompanied by the Council Chairman

A delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro Industrialisation in Enugu State embarked on a significant visit to Aninri Local Government Area to assess the progress of an Agro Allied Company currently under development. Led by the Commissioner for Agriculture and Agro Industrialisation, Hon. Patrick Nwabueze Ubru, the delegation included prominent figures such as Hon. Mark Ogbonna JP, the President General of Ekoli Town Union, and Hon. Dr. Martins Elechi, the Chief of Staff of Aninri Local Government.

The primary focus of the inspection was the ongoing cassava plantation, which has been a key element of the state's agricultural revitalization efforts. During the visit, Hon. Ubru commended the dedication and prudent management of resources by Hon. Benneth Aja, who is overseeing the project. He acknowledged the remarkable progress made on the ground, surpassing expectations. Hon. Ubru also highlighted the paramount importance of this project in the state government's strategy to boost the agricultural sector, enhance food sufficiency, and significantly increase Enugu State's internal revenue. Emphasis was placed on diversifying the economy through commercial and mechanized agriculture.

Hon. Chief Benneth Ajah, the Executive Chairman of Aninri, expressed his elation at the project's success and took the opportunity to extend his gratitude to Governor Dr. Barr Peter Mbah for his unwavering commitment to the initiative. He praised the dedication of his project team, which has played a pivotal role in achieving the remarkable progress seen thus far. Hon. Ajah also revealed that more than 15,000 hectares of land have already been cultivated with cassava and soya beans, with plans for further expansion in the pipeline. The government is set to provide additional caterpillars and tractors to ensure the project's continued rapid development.

During the visit, the Council Chairman engaged with leaders from the host community of Uhuezoke Okpanku, urging them to take full advantage of the governor's generous support. He assured them that the government would initiate further agreements to benefit the community.

Hon. Mark Ogbonna, speaking on behalf of the communities, reiterated their readiness to collaborate closely with the state government to bring this commendable project to fruition.

Upon its completion, this ambitious project promises to transform Aninri into one of the top three most industrialized communities in Enugu State, particularly in the realm of commercial agriculture. The ripple effects of this transformation are expected to include job creation, increased agricultural exports, and a surge in multifaceted economic activities within Aninri, driving progress and prosperity for the region.
