In a resounding testament to visionary leadership and unwavering commitment, the Enugu State Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs, and Social Development, Hon. Mrs Ngozi Enih, has hailed the remarkable achievements of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah during his first 100 days in office. Governor Mbah's innovative decisions, resolute actions, and resounding progress in key sectors have garnered widespread acclaim, positioning Enugu State on a promising path towards unprecedented growth and development.

In her statement on Wednesday, she delved into the governor's ambitious agenda, highlighting key milestones and initiatives that are poised to shape the future of Enugu State.

Highlighting the governor's determination to elevate Enugu State's economy to new heights, Hon. Enih expressed confidence in his ability to fulfill his campaign promises. She emphasized that Governor Mbah had laid a strong foundation for the ambitious goal of growing the state's GDP from $4.4 billion to $30 billion.

According to the Honorable Commissioner, one of Governor Mbah's immediate challenges upon assuming office was addressing the disruptive "sit-at-home" order imposed by non-state actors. Recognizing the negative impact on security and the economy, the governor swiftly banned this order, signaling his dedication to attracting investors to the state. Additionally, he established the Distress Response Squad (DRS) to enhance security and introduced advanced surveillance technology for crime prevention.

"Governor Mbah's commitment to food security was also commended, as he initiated plans for mechanized agriculture and agro-processing industries. This includes a significant financial contribution to the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), aimed at supporting local farmers and agro-processors, particularly cassava farmers"

"The governor's strategic partnerships were highlighted, including collaboration with the Federal Government to complete the international wing of Akanu Ibiam International Airport and the proposed cargo terminal, which will enhance exports and generate revenue for the state"

Recall that Gov. Mbah recently hosted the Investment and Economic Growth Roundtable, attracting international development institutions and partners like the World Bank and AfDB. This initiative is expected to result in a $2.1 billion investment deal set to be finalized at the upcoming Economic and Investment Summit in April 2024, promising job creation and a significant economic boost.

Enih also emphasized the untapped mineral resources in the state, the passing of the Enugu State Electricity Executive Bill to encourage private sector investment in power generation, and an extensive road construction and reconstruction project to facilitate transportation of goods and services.

Additionally, the governor's vision for reviving water infrastructure to provide clean, accessible water to all citizens was highlighted, with ambitious targets for water supply expansion in the coming months.

Her report also acknowledged the governor's success in waste management through public-private partnerships, transforming Enugu State into a cleaner and more organized environment.

In closing, Hon. Mrs Ngozi Enih reassured the people of Enugu of imminent development and progress under Governor Peter Mbah's leadership. She emphasized that the governor was actively addressing issues such as pension arrears, healthcare, and job creation, and was poised to deliver on his promises for a brighter future for Enugu State.

Governor Peter Mbah's first 100 days in office have set a promising trajectory for Enugu State, and residents are looking forward to continued positive changes and growth in the coming years.
