Enugu Housing Corporation And Asogwa's Fitted Cap

By Kenneth Udeh

One thing that is very clear about Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s administration is Mbah’s adherence, preference, quest and flair for quality, competence and capacity. This has manifested consistently in all that Mbah has done and does, especially in the choice of appointees he has chosen so far.
Mbah’s choice of Barr Gerald Asogwa as General Manager, Enugu State Housing Development Authority is that of putting a square peg in a square hole. It is a choice well made because the cap fits Asogwa in all ramifications.
There is no doubt that Asogwa, who is a lawyer and public servant of both local and international experiences and impeccable character, will bring to bear his wealth of experiences, unblemished record and immense capacity in repositioning the reverred   Corporation to actualise the objectives of Mbah’s administration in housing programmes in the state.
As a team player, who has silently traversed the public sector and made meaningful impacts before now, Asogwa has already hit the ground running since assuming office.
Apart from paying unscheduled visits to all the completed and ongoing Corporation's housing estates in the state for on-the- spot assessment and to get first hand information on the state of things there, Asogwa has recently inaugurated a strategic project advisory committee in the Corporation for optimal, cooperative and effective operations geared towards achieving the desired result.
   The Committee which has
ESV. Christian Nnadi as its Chairman and Mrs  Ifeoma Eze as secretary was saddled with the responsibilities of monitoring and evaluating the speedy implementation and timely delivery of the Corporation's Housing Projects, Identification of new sites for the Corporation's Housing Estate Projects, carrying out feasibility and viability studies of new projects, profiling marketing and sales strategies for ESHDC products, Mopping up of available unsold and unallocated plots, spaces and houses and also advising on customer satisfaction and retention.
Other members of the committee include TPL. Sunday Nwobodo, Surv. Onah Emmanuel and Francis Okongwu, while Mr. Okechukwu Isife will serve as the Legal Representative.
Addressing the Committee on behalf of the Management team,   Asogwa reiterated  Governor Mbah's commitment to changing the face of Enugu State through people oriented Housing development projects; adding that the Housing Corporation must at all times step up its games to catch up with the vision of the government.
He went on to remind the  committee that their selection was carefully done in line with the administration of His Excellency Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah's desire to use the best hands to achieve desired results, thus it was expected that nothing short of excellent delivery was expected. He, therefore, charged the committee to hit the ground running.
Responding on behalf of other members of the Committee, the Chairman, ESV. Christian Nnadi, expressed their profound gratitude to the Management for finding them worthy to serve in the committee. He went on to assure the Management that the committee will deliver on their terms of reference.
With this bold step and good initiative by Asogwa, it is crystal clear that his readiness, preparedness, commitment and ability to deliver on his mandate is not in doubt and his choice by Mbah is the best of a decision for the Enugu people.
