A shocking and tragic incident took place today as masked gunmen descended upon the peaceful community of Agbada in Nenwe, Enugu State, leaving three innocent villagers dead. The victims have been identified as Mr. Hillary Uche, a well-known block and cement dealer at Orie Agu, Emulemoke Agbada Road; Kingsley, a machine parts dealer at the signboard area of the village, and a young man known as FM.
The horrifying event unfolded in the early hours of Saturday morning when the assailants infiltrated the community, targeting their victims in their homes and shops, executing them without mercy.
Kingsley and FM were forcefully taken from their residences in Amagu Agbada Nenwe to the village square, where they met their tragic fate. Meanwhile, Mr. Hillary was brutally killed inside his own shop at Orie Agu. To further intensify the atmosphere of terror, the culprits set a house ablaze after fruitlessly searching for their target within.
This brutal and senseless act has plunged the community into shock and grief, with many young men engaged in businesses within the village now fleeing in fear for their lives. According to one local source, "Some unknown gunmen entered my village and brought out Kingsley and FM, dragging them to the village square where they killed them. Nobody knows who these people are. Everyone is afraid to even step outside. This has never happened here before."
All the perpetrators concealed their identities behind masks, leaving the community bewildered and in a state of insecurity. The villagers suspect that the gunmen might have come from the vicinity.
In response to this horrifying incident, Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe (DSP), has assured the public that discreet investigations and manhunt operations are already in progress. He confirmed that the shooting and killing of the three male victims occurred in the early hours of September 9, 2023, at Agbada Village square in Nenwe community, Aninri Local Government Area.
The Enugu State Police Department remains committed to bringing these armed hoodlums to justice and ensuring the safety and security of the affected community. Further developments in this case will be communicated as the investigation unfolds. EverydayNews
