The Enugu State Government expresses its appreciation to civil society organizations and the residents who peacefully demonstrated their support for the government's ban on illegal sit-at-home orders in the capital city yesterday. The government commends the participants for maintaining peace and order throughout the demonstrations.
As previously communicated to the esteemed people and residents of Enugu State, the government had issued directives to business and shop owners to resume regular operations on Monday and all workdays, failing which, their premises would be subject to sealing. True to its word, on Monday, July 24, 2023, the government enforced these directives.
In compliance with the government's stance, all businesses that were sealed will remain closed for one week. To be considered for reopening, affected businesses must present their current tax clearance certificates and other relevant revenue documents to the state government. The reviews and considerations for reopening will commence from Friday, July 28, 2023, starting at 2.00 pm at the Enugu State Capital Development Authority (ECTDA) headquarters.
In a statement signed by the Secretary to Enugu State government, Prof Chidiebere Onyia, all concerned parties are urged to adhere to this notice.
