The Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu warmly welcomed the newly elected executives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Committee (JCC) Enugu State. The NANS delegation, led by Comrade Okeke Prisca, the first-ever female NANS Chairman in the history of Enugu State, was received by the IMT Management team and the Students Union Government (SUG) led by Comrade Nwodo Tochukwu Emmanuel.
Comrade Okeke Prisca, a student of IMT, created history on June 8th by being the first IMT student to become the NANS Chairman of the State and the first woman to lead the Enugu State NANS chapter.
During the official welcome meeting, Comrade Prisca Okeke expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Rector of IMT, Prof. Augustine Uchechukwu Nweze, for his exceptional support during the JCC election. She acknowledged the pivotal role played by Prof. Nweze and the management staff, who provided the ICC Hall and other logistical support for the election. She praised Prof. Nweze's fatherly love towards the students and his responsiveness to their needs.
Comrade Okeke emphasized the importance of collaboration between NANS and educational institutions, stating that NANS acts as an umbrella body that caters to the interests and needs of students. She assured the IMT Management of Enugu State NANS' commitment to working hand in hand with the institution to fulfill its mandate.
In addition to the warm reception, Comrade Okeke Prisca made an appeal to the IMT Management regarding academic activities resuming on Mondays. She highlighted that resuming academic activities on Mondays would help counter the sit-at-home syndrome that has affected the South-East region.
Comrade Tochukwu Nwodo, President of the IMT Students Union Government, lauded the historic occasion and welcomed the newly elected NANS executives to the institution. He expressed delight over the fair election process that resulted in an "Aluta tiger" from IMT heading the affairs of students in the state. He pledged full support to Comrade Prisca Okeke and her team to further the interests of Nigerian students in Enugu State.
In response, Prof. Augustine Nweze, the Rector of IMT, thanked the NANS delegation for their dedication to the welfare of Nigerian students. He expressed joy at having Comrade Prisca Okeke as the Chairman of NANS Enugu State, marking a significant milestone for both NANS and IMT. The Rector assured the association of IMT's continuous partnership and support in the interest of the students.
The meeting was attended by various dignitaries, including the Deputy Rector of IMT, Dr. Ejim Emeka Patrick JP., IMT Bursar, Sunny Edeh, the Director of Works IMT, Engr. Dr. Ajah, the Deputy Coordinator NANS Zone F, Comr. Ikechukwu Emmanuel Obi, the Enugu State NANS Director of Internal Security, Comr. Okorie Chigozie, NANS Assistant Secretary, Chukwu Anthony Hector, NANS Financial Secretary, Comr. Chiedozie Vincent, and other principal officers of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu.
The event ended on a positive note, signaling a promising partnership between IMT Management, the SUG, and NANS Enugu State in fostering the overall welfare and interests of Nigerian students in the state.
