Jubilation erupted in the Uzo-uwani community as Dr. George Ajogwu, the Director of the Gburugburu free surgery programme, took it upon himself to personally sponsor the covering of potholes that were created by hoodlums and kidnappers along the vital road from Nimbo to Ugbene Ajima. This road serves as the best link to Uzo-uwani, and its importance cannot be overstated in facilitating safe and efficient transportation for the residents.
The road, a gift from the visionary project master, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, fondly known as Gburugburu, has been instrumental in connecting communities and enhancing mobility in the region. However, the presence of dangerous potholes, deliberately created by criminals to facilitate their nefarious activities, posed a significant threat to the safety and security of the people.
During an interview with FountainCare Reporters, Dr. George Ajogwu, hailing from Nimbo, expressed his voluntary commitment to the project of fixing potholes on the road that connects Ugbene-Ajima to Nimbo. He was motivated to initiate these repairs because this particular road, constructed by the compassionate former Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, is the primary access route for the community. Prior to Governor Ugwuanyi's intervention, the road was in a deplorable condition, making it difficult for people to visit Nimbo with their vehicles.
According to Dr. Ajogwu; "the road used to be in good condition until hoodlums, miscreants, and kidnappers vandalized it by creating potholes. These intentional damages were aimed at slowing down vehicles, enabling the criminals to carry out their nefarious activities"
"Good governance is not solely the responsibility of those in leadership positions but requires collective efforts from all citizens. I commend the efforts of past and present administrations, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and the incumbent Governor, Barr. Peter Mbah, along with his working deputy, Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai, in bringing positive changes to Enugu State"
"As the Director of the Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme, a humanitarian initiative that has been saving lives in Nsukka zone and Enugu State as a whole through 3-times weekly surgeries for over a year, today, am also move to extends beyond healthcare services after witnessing the difficulties faced by our people due to the poor state of the road and the activities of kidnappers, I felt compelled to expand my humanitarian mission to include the improvement of the only access roads the communities received from Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi"
As a support to Governor Peter Mbah and his Deputy, Barr Ifeanyi Ossai's led administration, Dr. Ajogwu believes that making the road highly motorable will significantly reduce the activities of kidnappers and criminals.
"By restoring this road to a condition where vehicles can move at a normal speed, I aim to eliminate the traps that facilitate criminal activities" he said.
Dr. George Ajogwu takes this opportunity to call upon all well-meaning citizens of Enugu State to contribute in any way they can to enhance society. His actions reflect a dedication to serving the community and making a positive impact on the lives of his fellow citizens.
In times when negative news dominate headlines, stories like these remind us of the kindness, compassion, and unity that still exist within our communities. Dr. George Ajogwu's generosity and proactive approach have not only repaired a road but have also uplifted the spirits of those living in Uzo-uwani, reinforcing the belief in the power of collective efforts to bring about positive change.
His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi
(The Former Governor of Enugu State)
