The Anambra Women General Assembly (AWGA) is a socio-cultural group formed to address the exclusion women from various states in Nigeria, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, and other parts of the world. Many of these women have Anambra heritage either through their parents, marriage to Anambra men, or being born in different states but having roots in Anambra.

Despite living, studying, working, conducting businesses, paying taxes, and exercising their voting rights in these states, these women find themselves marginalized and excluded from the political process due to the existing governance system. AWGA aims to advocate for the inclusion and representation of women in decision-making processes, political appointments, and other spheres of influence.

The group's primary objective is to empower women and provide a platform for their voices to be heard. AWGA organizes cultural and social activities that celebrate Anambra traditions, promoting unity and solidarity among its members. Additionally, the group engages in political advocacy, lobbying for policy changes and reforms that address the systemic barriers faced by Anambra women.

Through its initiatives, AWGA seeks to create awareness and mobilize support for the inclusion of women in governance structures at the local, state, and national levels. The group collaborates with other women's organizations, civil society groups, and relevant stakeholders to amplify their impact and push for meaningful change.
