Autonomous communities are first-level political and administrative divisions, created with the idea to further devolution of full political Autonomy to forster sustainable peace, unity and development among sub-regional communities in the state.
The event that ushered the verification and approval pronouncement of Umuokara Orba as an Autonomous Community by the Commisioner For Chieftancy Affairs, Hon. Dr. Charles Egumgbe on the 10th May, 2023 at Uhuu Ube Okara, after being unanimously chosen by the people of Umuokara, was graced by the presence of Hon. Gideon Tochukwu Eze (Orka), the Vice Chairman of Udenu Local Government Council, Eze Nnaemeka (Nani Boi) former Member 4, ENSUBEB, the entire council of elders of Okara, Umuokara General Assembly led by the PG Barr. Emeka Eze, Okara Women and Youths and all relevant stakeholders in Umuokara Orba Autonomous Community.
On the 25th of May, 2023, Certificate of Recognition was presented to the Igwe of Umuokara Orba Autonomous Community, HRH Igwe Sir. Engr. George Nwankwo Eze, the State Ministry of Chieftancy Affairs, a presentation done by the former Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Rt Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi represented by the Commisioner for Chieftaincy Affairs, Dr. C.O.C Egumgbe.
In his brief address, the Igwee Ezennia of Umuokara Orba on behalf of the community paid eulogy to the former Executive Governor of Enugu State and the Hon Commisioner of Chieftancy Affairs. He plegded to ensure peace, security, youth empowerment and development of the community. He also reiterated total support and solidarity to Enugu State Government while congratulating the incumbent Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah and His Deputy Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai for their success at the recent election. He pledged to genuinely partner with them to ensure continued development of our dear Enugu State and Umuokara Orba Autounomous Community.
It's henceforth official from the 25th of May 2023, that the Supreme Traditional Ruler of Umuokara Orba Autonomous Community is;
Sir. Engr. Dr. George Nwankwo Eze. Ph.D, FNSE,FNICE,FNIGE,MASCE,FISSMGE,KSM,JP. HRH IGWE EZENNIA UMUOKARA ORBA AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITY.
