John Obinna Ogbu is a challenge driven, experienced professional both in the Business and Community arenas. He is a licensed, chartered Human Resource Management & Business Professional with over 15 years cognate experience across different fields. He has worked and gained valuable experience in the Pharmaceutical industry, Banking & Finance, Oil &Gas (downstream), Trade & investment, Services (Consulting), Manufacturing, Education, and Hospitality sector. His work experience spans both the Public and Private sectors. Obinna is a creative and resourceful professional with a track record of empowering individuals and organisations with the capacity to make prudent decisions. He is a natural and persuasive communicator, recognized in professional circles for his keen ability to motivate & inspire individuals to work towards achieving a common goal.
Obinna was born at Abakpa Health Centre and hails from Iji Nike in Enugu East LGA of Enugu State. He is the candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) seeking to represent the people of Enugu East Urban Constituency in the State House of Assembly in the 2023 general elections.
EDUCATION
His primary education was at Trans - Ekulu primary school, Enugu; secondary education at the popular National Grammar School, Nike Enugu. His bachelor's degree in Applied Microbiology was from the Ebonyi state University Abakaliki (2004), while his Masters degree in Business & Human Resource Management was from the University of Wales Lampeter in the United Kingdom (2010). He is a member of various professional bodies including the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) Nigeria, and the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).
LEADERSHIP ROLES
Obinna's penchant for service did not start today as he served in various capacities during his university days. He made history as the first democratically elected Speaker of the SUG parliament in EBSU (2003/2004). However, his election was cancelled by the University authorities 48 hours later for undisclosed reasons. Unofficial reports revealed that it was due to his vibrancy and non- indigene status. That notwithstanding, he also held other positions a few of which are;
- Member representing Faculty of Applied Natural Sciences (FANSSA), SUG Parliament EBSU (2003/2004).
- South East Regional Coordinator, Nat. Asso. of Microbiology Students, Nat. Sec. AAU Ekpoma (2002/2003)
- President, National Association of Nkanu Students EBSU (2003/2004).
- PRO, National Association of Nkanu Students EBSU (2002/2003).
- Chief editor, FANSSA Editorial board (2003).
- President, Activity Dot Com Performing Artiste Club (2002/2004).
- PRO, Nat. Asso. of Microbiology Students, EBSU chapter (2001).

WORK EXPERIENCE
Over the years, Obinna has gained valuable experience working at various organizations in both the Public and Private sectors as he fits seemlessly into any role he is given. Some organizations he has worked with include; BSN Medicals SA, Morrison Industries PLC, Intercontinental Bank PLC, Plan Personnel UK, Geacan Energy Ltd, Geacan Group of Co. Ltd, H&B Energy And Logistics Services Ltd., UNN Business School, Enugu State Govt., and Nike Lake Resort Enugu.
His last two jobs was as a Snr. Lecturer, Human Resource Management at the UNN Business School and as the HR & Admin Manager for Nike Lake Resort, Enugu.
