We should all be sensitive. Dear Nigerians, we should be sensitive.
If you come across someone who is very hungry, please throw away that toothpick in your mouth. Be sensitive!
If you see your friends trekking along the road on a hot afternoon and you know you can't carry them in your car, don't bother to wave at them. Quickly drive past and keep moving. Be sensitive!
You know you are the only student in your class that passed the exam. Why should you paste your result on the blackboard to provoke those who failed? If one of them tears it now to pieces in anger and fights you, you will start your emotional blackmail and accuse the person of being envious. Be sensitive!
You deliberately flaunt your wedding ring in front of your friends who are still single and struggling to find a spouse; or you throw your baby up when you see your fellow women who are struggling to have their own babies. Aren’t you rude? Be sensitive!
Why can’t you celebrate your success and leave people alone to mourn their failure? Even in football, it is offensive and sometimes punishable for a player to celebrate in front of the opposing fans. You are winning. Good. Celebrate your victory with your own fans and leave the opposing fans to mourn their loss. Be sensitive!
In a society where the majority are suffering and grieving in the ashes of unrealized dreams, you throw your so-called achievements around and expect people to clap and dance with you. Well, the sycophants amongst them would always clap and dance, for their own selfish end.
When you go about showing your over-bloated tummy to hungry people and telling them how the jollof rice you ate was very peppery and sweet, of course you should expect hot envy. After all, a hungry man is an angry man. And you are the guilty party here. As the Scripture says, “If your brother is grieved because of your food, you are no longer walking in love.” (Romans 14:15)
Can a Nigerian politician be sensitive? Yes!
Guess who? Hon. Osita Ngwu (RG)! Who found it in his heart to reach out to all his opponents in his party's Senatorial primaries. According to him, "We were thirteen (13) that contested for the ticket of Enugu-West under the PDP. I visited eleven (11) of them immediately after the primaries to ask for their support, and they all gave me their word."
That's the kind of leader that we Nigerians want in the next democratic dispensation. A leader who walks in love; a leader who is sensitive, who respects people's sensibilities. A leader whose politics is without bitterness.
And he did that, not only to build a coalition, but to show compassion.
RG is a sensitive and sensible political leader.
See, your candle is not brighter when it is the only one burning. No. Don’t park your car to answer a call at a bus stop where many passengers are stranded. Don’t park in front of them, especially if you have no intention of carrying anyone. Drive further down the road. Be sensitive! You must not carry them. Yes! But be sensitive! Inugo?!
If someone smashes your windscreen in anger, don’t complain. It’s not envy. You caused it. Be sensitive!
