A group of Enugu State citizens from the 17 local government areas of the state has expressed confidence in the competence, commitment and preparedness of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, Dr. Peter Mbah, to change the existing narrative in the state through his development plans and programmes.
Members of the group named Rock Ambassadors, who converged on Dr. Mbah’s residence in Enugu on Monday to pledge their support for his gubernatorial aspiration, said they were convinced Mbah will bring in new infrastructure, attract development through huge investments and cater for the welfare of the citizens after going through his laudable manifesto.
Affirming their resolve to mobilize voters across the state for the election of Dr. Mbah, the group said they were spurred by Mbah’s reputation for integrity, character of excellence and zeal to serve the people.
The group which boasts of thousands of members and supporters, stressed that it had already commenced its street campaigns for the PDP candidate.
Speaking on behalf of the executive members of the support group, Hon. Adinde Chibueze, who’s also the convener, commended Mbah for his uncommon exploits and commitment towards the welfare of humanity, adding that their programmes were designed to continue to reach out to the grassroots voters on the need to overwhelmingly throw their weight behind Mbah’s candidacy.
“We believe in you and we know that Enugu will have cause to smile with you on the seat. With you as our governor, we’ll celebrate because of your unprecedented plans for the state. We are here to reassure you of our total support,” the convener added.
On his part, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Hon. Frank Anioma applauded Dr. Mbah for his ongoing town-hall meetings in the state, saying it is the first time it’s happening which portrays that Mbah was prepared for the job.
He added that the state will wear a new look with Mbah winning the number one seat.
Reacting to the solidarity visit by the group, the governorship hopeful said he was glad Enugu people had taken ownership of the project by showing overwhelming support for the journey.
He extolled the group for their colourful outing and street ‘evangelization’ for his candidacy, promising not to disappoint in bringing the much anticipated new developments in the state.
He noted that the urgency of the time demands that someone who could doing things differently, grow the economy exponentially, activate massive development, and restore the pre-eminent status of the state is needed for the job.
Stating that the country is facing existential threats as a result of the dwindling national revenue, inflation, weak currency, growing insecurity, Mbah vowed to tackle these myriad of challenges if elected.
Marshalling his plan to grow the economy from its current $4.4 billion to $30 billion within the next 8 years, Mbah assured that he would achieve this through his well-thought-out disruptive innovation and flexible policies.
While reiterating his commitment to creating jobs for the teeming youths, the ruling party’s candidate enjoined the people to seize the opportunity afforded by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to collect their permanent voter’s cards and vote for the PDP in the forthcoming elections.
