The Enugu State Chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has officially adopted and endorsed group of students from Enugu State championing the state's student community's platform for sensitisation, voter education and campaign for the PDP gubernatorial flagbearer, Barr. Peter Ndubisi Mbah, popularly known as Peter Mbah Students Movement or PMSM in brief.
The 17 local governments that made up Enugu State ALGON made this declaration while hosting the students group's leaders at ALGON Headquarters in Enugu. PMSM was received by local government chairmen headed by the council Chairman of Udenu Local Government, Rt. Hon. Solomon Izuchukwu Onah (Jack-Solo) who precided over the meeting with the apex students movement.
Speaking on behalf of the 17 local government council chairmen, the ALGON Chairman, Hon. Onah commended the efforts and drive for a better Enugu State through their active participation in the electioneering process, such as acquisition of Permanent Voters Cards PVC, Sensitization, Campaign and Support for Barr. Petet Mbah, Ifeanyi Ossai and all PDP candidates across the state. He encouraged the group to keep up the good work and support for Mba who has remarkable track records in the past.
Hon Onah made it clear in his statement; "working for Peter Mbah is synonymous with working for ourselves knowing that we are all youths"
"If you look around, you will observe that all these local government council chairmen sitting before you are all youths, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and entire state have done a lot of work on youth empowerment both politically and otherwise. It's our time (the youth) to take over and change the narratives, hence, I charge you all to move into the campuses, churches, markets and hinterlands to extend this your life-saving message to all and sundry"
In their separate speeches, the local government chairmen appreciated their boldness and commitment to supporting PDP as the only trusted party that will lead Enugu State to the promise land, stressing on the need to extend such message to all the 17 local governments, promising that they have unanimously adopted the group and will give every support necessary to sustain the tempo.
The Deputy ALGON Chairman Enugu State, Hon. Chukwudi Ozoeluba on the other hand appreciated his fellow chairmen for the support they have pledged for the students group, saying that he knows the group and trust that they will make them proud, citing the progress they have attained in their previous outings.
In his vote of thanks, the Leader of the students movement, Comr. Charles Edeh, thanked the ALGON Chairman and his colleagues for their encouraging words and advice, promising that the group will continue to meet with them to update them on their progress. Comr. Edeh thanked Hon. Chukwudi Ozoeluba, the chairman of Ezeagu Local Government Council and Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Edeh for receiving them sometime ago and guaranteeing their colleagues of the students capacity to deliver Peter Mbah come 2023.
