Before the emergence of Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic party, (PDP) in Enugu state, other eminent contestants were also in the race for little ray-field. Most of them are from Enugu east senatorial zone of the state which generally believed to be the zone to produce the next governor by the convention of equity, justice and fairness, and in continous recognition and adherence to zoning embedded in the party's internal mechanisms. This rotation as agreed by the political actors is to give some semblance of equity as politicians jostle for political offices.
Therefore, right now, it turns out to favour Nkanu east local government of the state which comprises many underdeveloped communities and villages among others. This understanding which is irrespective of political party seems to be binding on all in the state. So far, this arrangement has been generally upheld in 2014 when the then governor Barr Sullivan I. Chime, won the battle in the former deputy senate president failed in his attempt to disregard it. It was vehemently resisted by the major political players and the electorate with the trumping of the then DSP's candidate and this has taught some greedy politicians in the state a valuable lesson.
The outcome of the PDP governorship primary which produced Dr. Mbah did not come without resentment from some overambitious contestants who lost out, especially Barr Chijioke Edeoga, now contesting labour party ticket in court. Some aspirants voluntarily resigned as the event got underway, pledging their loyalty and support to Dr. Mbah who eventually got elected and was returned winner. This primary election which was held peacefully produced Dr. Peter Mbah whom I call "first among equals". He is eminently qualified to govern the state. However, what worked in favour of Peter Mbah was that he had won the hearts of many in the state with impeccable achievements. He had everything working for him. His accomplishments at early age placed him head and shoulders above Edeoga and many of his co-contestants and accorded him the recognition he now enjoys as the projected incoming governor of Enugu state by 2023.
I have interacted with many voters and have not seen or heard anything untoward about his character. Even if there is any, not being infallible as anyone else, it is apparently not enough to make anyone lose sleep, because he is an innocent political leader who has excelled in public private sector over decades. His interest to redevelop Enugu is destined with the creation of the state in 1991 with a super prophecy that the man to give Enugu the desired governance with a disruptive innovation would come from Owoh in Nkanu east local government area of Enugu state, and his time will usher in an accelerated process for a pro people administration with a vision to create the multimodal transport system in the state. The central message here is that the whole PDP family should rally round the winner and ensure victory at the polls. Enugu state is a unique state and must remember that Dr. Peter Mbah is the answered prayers of Ndi Enugu.
Dr Mbah's act of magnanimity has started the process of healing. He has ensured meeting all co-aspirants, and shared his vision for the purposeful new Enugu when comes on board as the next governor through winning the next election. Dr Peter Mbah's personality, profile, carriage have earned him some quantum of respect in the eyes of the delegates, hence his emergence. I implore our supporters to calm and embrace all constructive of criticism. We should also exhibit maturity as the journey to lion building gets underway. The sky is Dr. Mbah's starting point with this teeming grace. Many people have already testified to the strength of his character, his humility, resourcefulness, and his vision for Enugu state. Enugu will be expecting so much from him.
Surely, Dr. Mbah will have overwhelming support from the people of Enugu state. We are already enamoured of his blueprint, his vision and mission. The security challenges facing the state can be addressed with the right frame of mind once he become the next governor.
Tomorrow Is Here.
