NANS Commends IMT Management For Credible, Hitch-Free SUG Election Exercisee

FountainCare Reporters followed through the process of screening and observation of the IMT SUG election exercise, the election which attracted the presence of student bodies, civil society organisations and news medias. Delegations from different groups who came to observe and monitor the just concluded SUG election exercise in the Institute of Management and Technology IMT Enugu State on the 19th of October 2022 commended the electoral system of IMT in ensuring a free and fair election that produced the executives to pilot the affairs of the union for 2022/2023 academic section.
The delegate-election was adjudged "one of the most organised, free and fair students union election in the history of the Institute" by the National Association Of Nigerian Students (NANS) Election Monitoring Team led by the South East Zonal PRO of the apex students body, Comr. Isaiah Aniamalu. 
According to Comr. Aniamalu, this year’s SUG election is keenly contested and the winner, Comr. Nwodo emerged with just 10 votes to top Comr. Aboyi Emmanuel who took the second position. "This year’s election is the most interesting, most credible and organised, I and my team were on ground, carefully monitored and observed every step of the process, the result for presidential candidates is with us and detailed as follows in brief; Comr. Nwodo 137, Comr. Abonyi 127, Comr. Prisca 48, Comr. Agbo 30 and Don Willy 6 votes. "I must commend the efforts of the entire IMT management Team ably led by Prof. Augustine Uchechukwu Nweze, the Rector of the prestigious Institution, the Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. Ugwoke Anthony, The CSO, Rt. DSP Peter Eze, The IMT legal adviser Mr. Celestine Ogbu, the entire IMT Electoral Committee, the DSS, The Nigerian Police Force, the National Council of Enugu State Students (NACESS) led by Comr. Onyemaechi Joseph JP, the NANS JCC Chairman Enugu State, Comr. Ikechukwu Emmanuel, Comr. Ugwuanyi Samuel, Comr. Nwobodo Chinonso Emmanuel, Comr. Solomon Nweke, Comr. Ben Okeanu, Comr. Charles Nnaemeka Edeh, Comr. Micheal Utazi, the outgoing students union executives led by Comr. Agbo Steve Nnaemka and others for their combined efforts that metamorphosed to the success of this year’s SUG election".
The NANS delegates released the names of the principal office holders duly elected to champion the union’s 2022/2023 academic section activities.

The SUG President Elect, Comr. Nwodo Tochukwu E. in his appreciation message thanked everyone; organisations and persons who contributed to the successful completion of the election process. His appreciation statement read; 

"Glory to the Lord in the highest for what He has done, His protection, love and victory can’t be overemphasized. Indeed it has been tough, hard and pressure throughout the processes of the SUG Elections in the prestigious Institute of Management and Technology IMT, Enugu.

Special appreciation to the entire IMT Management Board and Schools in IMT, am grateful. God bless, Barr. Celestine Ogbu IMT Legal Adviser, for another free, fair and historical election under his watch. Computer Science Department is lovely and wonderful, ably led by Comr. Genevieve Nwabueze under the watch of Mr. Donatus Agu (HOD) has been a wonderful family, God bless you all for the support and love.

I appreciate all the maximum effort of the departmental president and their executive and the students of this great institute, Institution of Management and Technology, Enugu. Nkanu my home, it’s our win, your support was massive and overwhelming under the leadership of Comr. Chijioke Ogbuanu, the stakeholders and the entire student of NUNS. 

To all the aspirants from various department that has vied for their respective positions, it’s a privilege doing this together in the struggle with all of you, we all want   the best for our school and that we should always know that our suggestions and input for the success and betterment of our great institute is always welcome.

All the observers that came, NANS, NACESS and other body present yesterday, thank you all for the support, the student voice was heard.

Irrespective of your school, department and region. It’s our win, there is no discrimination, our tenure is open for positive representation and collaborations.
The task ahead is keeping IMT, Enugu at the top in South East  and Nigeria at large as one of the best Institute.
