ENUGU — Tributes and goodwill messages are pouring in for the Enugu State Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Enih, as she celebrates her birthday today, November 3.
Friends, associates, political stakeholders, colleagues and admirers are celebrating the commissioner, acknowledging her commitment to public service, women’s empowerment, child protection and the advancement of vulnerable groups across Enugu State.
Appointed by Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah in December 2023, Hon. Enih has continued to play a significant role in advancing the state government's social development agenda, particularly in areas affecting women, children and families.
While Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development, she oversees initiatives designed to promote gender equality, strengthen child protection mechanisms, empower women economically and socially, and improve the welfare of vulnerable members of society.
Under her ministry's mandate, particular attention is given to protecting the rights of children, combating child abuse, promoting girl-child education and strengthening advocacy for the implementation of child protection laws.
She has also been associated with efforts to address gender-based violence, support survivors and challenge harmful traditional practices that undermine the dignity, rights and opportunities of women and girls.
Her portfolio places her at the centre of important social interventions that complement Governor Mbah's broader vision of building a more inclusive, secure and prosperous Enugu State.
