Twenty-two students of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Umunze, Anambra State, have received a financial boost of **₦3,179,000** through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The disbursement, which forms part of the Fund’s sixth batch of student-loan payments for the session, is expected to ease the burden of institutional charges on beneficiaries and their families.
In an acknowledgement letter dated July 31, 2026, the college confirmed that it received the funds on July 23, 2026, for the 22 beneficiaries under the NELFUND student-loan scheme
The college management, led by its Provost, **Dr. Virginia Nonye Ejezie**, expressed appreciation to NELFUND for extending the initiative to its students, describing it as a valuable intervention that could reduce the financial pressure parents face in financing their children’s education.
According to the institution, the scheme has the potential to promote wider access to quality education by helping students overcome financial barriers that could otherwise disrupt their academic pursuits.
The college also commended NELFUND’s leadership and staff for their continued commitment to transparency and efficiency in administering the programme, expressing hope for sustained collaboration in advancing educational development.
The disbursement announcement states that the ₦3.179 million covers the statutory charges of all verified applicants included in the payment, providing the beneficiaries with support to meet their institutional obligations.
The latest intervention highlights NELFUND’s role in supporting eligible students across Nigeria’s tertiary institutions, while offering parents and guardians some relief from the rising costs associated with higher education.
For the 22 beneficiaries in Umunze, the funding represents more than a financial transaction: it is an opportunity to continue their studies with greater assurance and focus on achieving their academic ambitions.
