Enugu Local Government Service Commission Chairman pledges continued support for professional, efficient grassroots administration

The Chairman of the Enugu State Local Government Service Commission, Barr. Nana Ogbodo, has applauded Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for earning national recognition through the prestigious Grand Performer Award at the Mandatory National Summit of Local Government Service Commissions of Nigeria held in Abuja in October 2026.

Ogbodo described the award as a significant endorsement of Governor Mbah’s commitment to effective governance, public service excellence and the delivery of development-oriented leadership in Enugu State.

The award was presented at the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development in Abuja, during a gathering of key stakeholders in local government administration and public service from across Nigeria and received by The Honorable Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Enugu State,  Prof. Sam Ugwu, on behalf of the governor.

In his congratulatory message on behalf of the commission, Ogbodo said the recognition was a source of pride for Enugu State, noting that it highlighted the governor’s leadership and the administration’s drive to strengthen public institutions and improve service delivery.

He expressed confidence that the honour would further motivate public servants across the state to embrace higher standards of professionalism, accountability, efficiency and dedication in carrying out their official duties.

According to him, recognition of this nature should serve as an inspiration to public institutions to remain focused on their responsibilities and contribute meaningfully to the state’s development aspirations.

Ogbodo also reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to working in line with the Mbah administration’s development agenda through improved personnel management, institutional strengthening and the promotion of a competent, disciplined and productive local government workforce.

He stressed that an efficient local government service was indispensable to bringing the benefits of democratic governance closer to the people, particularly at the grassroots, where public institutions play a crucial role in addressing community needs across the 17 local government areas of Enugu State.

The commission chairman maintained that sustained investment in human capacity, administrative efficiency and professional standards would strengthen local government institutions and enhance their ability to deliver quality services to residents.

Governor Mbah’s Grand Performer Award adds to the recognition of his administration’s performance in public service and governance, while reinforcing the importance of effective leadership and institutional development in advancing the state’s growth objectives.

The Enugu State Local Government Service Commission is chaired by Barr. Nana Ogbodo, with Hon. Peter Nnaji as Member I, Mrs. Florence Ifenyinwa Igboji as Member II, Dr. Bartholomew Ikechukwu Ezeugwu as Member III, Ambassador Amaka Nweke, JP, as Member IV, and Osondu Henry Nnaji as Secretary.
