Emmanuel Franklin Chidera, has paid a solemn courtesy visit to the palace of the late traditional ruler of Oduma-Achara Autonomous Community, His Royal Highness, Igwe Donatus I. Chukwu Murphy, in Oduma, Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Chidera was accompanied by the renowned philanthropist and Accord Party candidate for Aninri State Constituency in the 2027 election, Hon. Orji Stephen Nnajiofor.

The visit underscored the candidates’ deep respect for Igbo culture, traditional institutions and the enduring contributions of royal fathers to the peace, unity and development of their communities.

Speaking during the visit, Engr. Chidera described the late Igwe Donatus I. Chukwu Murphy as one of the revered traditional leaders whose lives were dedicated to selfless service, wisdom and sacrifice for the advancement of their people.

He noted that the contributions of traditional rulers to community development should be recognised, celebrated and preserved for future generations.

According to him, respect for cultural heritage and traditional institutions remains non-negotiable, stressing that traditional rulers are custodians of the people’s identity, values and moral traditions.

The federal constituency hopeful further reaffirmed his commitment to promoting, preserving and projecting the rich cultural heritage of Aninri, Awgu and Oji-River if elected into the House of Representatives.

As part of his development vision, Chidera disclosed plans to collaborate with traditional councils to elevate local cultural festivals to international standards, drawing inspiration from renowned celebrations such as the Onitsha Ofala Festival and the Ojude Oba Festival.

He explained that partnerships with multinational brands, cultural institutions and private-sector organisations would help showcase the communities’ cultural heritage to a global audience, attract tourists, stimulate local economies and create employment opportunities for young people.

The family and cabinet of the late monarch warmly received the visiting delegation, expressed appreciation for the show of respect and offered royal blessings.

The visit further highlighted the importance of preserving the legacies of traditional rulers while strengthening the relationship between political leadership, traditional institutions and the communities they serve.

Indeed, a leader who honours tradition honours the people and the heritage that define them.
