…Residents highlight projects, development interventions as campaign train visits Wards 13 and 4

The ongoing grassroots campaign of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu North Local Government Area received another boost on Friday, September 18, 2026, as the party’s campaign team visited Ogui Township Ward 13 and Onu Asata Ward 4, drawing enthusiastic crowds of residents, party faithful and community stakeholders.

The campaign, led by the APC Chairman in Enugu North LGA, Hon. Ernest Onuoha, and the party’s chairmanship candidate, Dr. Ibenaku Harford Onoh, formed part of the party’s ward-to-ward engagement ahead of the September 26 Enugu State local government elections.

The Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) has fixed September 26 for the council elections across the state.

At both Ogui Township and Onu Asata, residents came out in significant numbers to receive the campaign team, creating an atmosphere of political engagement as the candidates and party leaders interacted directly with the people.

The delegation included the Deputy Chairman of Enugu North LGA, Hon. Echezona Ugwu; Member representing Enugu North Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Johnson Ani; Secretary to the Local Government, Dr. Emeka Aroh; Member representing Nkanu West Constituency, Rt. Hon. Iloabuchi Aniagu; as well as former Executive Chairmen of Enugu North LGA, Hon. Emeka Onunze (Tata) and Hon. Emeka Ede.

Other party leaders, stakeholders and faithful also joined the campaign train as it moved through the two wards.

Speaking during the engagements, various community and party speakers commended Dr. Onoh for what they described as visible projects and interventions carried out across Enugu North during his two years in office.

Their remarks centred on development initiatives and other programmes which they said had impacted communities and residents, with speakers calling for continued support for the APC chairmanship candidate.

Similar commendations have recently emerged from Ogui, where the Ogui Nike Forum publicly endorsed Onoh’s candidacy, citing projects in areas including roads, street lighting and vocational training.

The campaign also provided an opportunity for the APC leadership to strengthen its direct engagement with residents as the September 26 poll draws closer. Onoh is among the incumbent chairmen who secured the APC’s return ticket during the party’s 2026 primaries.

Addressing the people, Dr. Ibenaku Harford Onoh expressed appreciation for the warm reception and turnout across the two wards.

He appealed for the continued support of the residents and votes for the APC candidates, assuring the people that he remained committed to honouring the confidence and trust placed in his administration.

Onoh said the campaign engagements were an opportunity to maintain direct contact with the grassroots, listen to residents and communicate the party’s vision as the election approaches.

The visits to Ogui Township and Onu Asata form part of the Enugu North APC campaign team’s continuing ward-to-ward mobilisation, following earlier engagements in areas including Coal Camp, where residents and traders also received the campaign train.

With the election now days away, the campaign continues to bring APC candidates face-to-face with residents across Enugu North, with the party seeking to consolidate its grassroots structure and present its candidates to voters ahead of the poll.
