Three promising entrepreneurs in Enugu State have received a combined ₦4.5 million in business support grants following the maiden edition of the Enugu SME Bootcamp, an initiative designed to strengthen local businesses and create new pathways for enterprise growth.

The programme was delivered by the Enugu MSME & Startup Agency (Enugu SME Center) in partnership with 234Finance, bringing together entrepreneurs for an intensive programme focused on business development, mentorship, pitching and access to finance.

The bootcamp provided participants with an opportunity to sharpen their business models, strengthen their entrepreneurial capacity and gain practical insights into building enterprises capable of attracting investment and scaling sustainably.

The highlight of the maiden edition was the award of grants to three outstanding entrepreneurs, giving the beneficiaries additional financial backing to strengthen and expand their respective businesses.

The intervention reflects the growing emphasis on supporting entrepreneurs with not only financial resources but also the knowledge and business development skills required to deploy such resources effectively.

The Enugu SME Center said the initiative aligns with the vision of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah to build an economy in which entrepreneurs are empowered, MSMEs can grow and businesses contribute directly to employment and wider economic opportunities.

The programme is also part of the broader effort to create an enterprise ecosystem in Enugu where promising business ideas can receive mentorship, capacity development, market-oriented guidance and access to finance.

For the three grant beneficiaries, the ₦4.5 million support provides an opportunity to translate their business plans into expanded operations, while the wider bootcamp equips participating entrepreneurs with knowledge that can continue to support their businesses beyond the programme.

Managing Director of the Enugu MSME & Startup Agency, Arinze Chilo-Offiah, said the initiative reflects the agency’s focus on empowering entrepreneurs and creating practical opportunities for businesses to thrive.

The agency described the programme as a demonstration of its commitment to moving from entrepreneurship support in principle to interventions that provide tangible assistance to business owners.

The maiden Enugu SME Bootcamp therefore combines three critical elements of enterprise development—capacity building, mentorship and access to finance—with the ultimate objective of helping more Enugu entrepreneurs build sustainable businesses.

For the Enugu SME Center, the goal is to create an environment where ideas can become viable businesses, businesses can scale, and successful enterprises can generate jobs and economic value across the state.
