The Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission, on Saturday, declared Hon. Chukwuebuka Benneth Orji the winner of the councillorship election held in Udi Siding Ward 12, Enugu North Local Government Area.
Hon. Orji polled a total of 19,000 votes to defeat his closest opponents.
Speaking with newsmen in Enugu on Monday, Hon. Orji said the victory was one for the youths and democracy, adding that he was coming to contribute his quota as a team member of Hon. Ibenaku Harford Onoh's administration in Enugu North Local Government Area.
He stated that from his nomination to his eventual victory, he had always envisaged being part of what Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah was doing in the state and had prepared himself to advance the Governor's vision by working with his political son in Enugu North Local Government Area, Dr. Ibenaku Harford Onoh.
Orji said his election had given him a greater sense of responsibility, stressing that he would use the opportunity to represent the interests of the people of Udi Siding Ward 12 and contribute meaningfully to the development of the area.
He expressed appreciation to the people of the ward for their confidence and support, as well as to party leaders, youths and other stakeholders who contributed to his success at the polls.
He pledged to work closely with the local government leadership and other elected representatives to promote initiatives that would improve the welfare of residents and create opportunities for young people.
