...Presents international training certificate, says China experience has strengthened his capacity for greater service

ENUGU — Special Assistant on Media to the Governor of Enugu State, Nnamani Arinze Darlington, has returned to Enugu from the People’s Republic of China and paid a courtesy visit to the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, at the Abuja Building, Government House, Enugu.

The visit provided an opportunity for Nnamani to formally present to the SSG the certificate he received after successfully completing an international training programme in Beijing, China, focused on Key Technologies and Policy Development for Chronic Disease Prevention and Control in Belt and Road Countries.

During the meeting, Nnamani expressed his readiness and eagerness to resume his official duties, while also sharing his excitement about returning to the state after the international engagement.

He particularly spoke fondly about the weekly Monday Strategic Leadership Meetings chaired by Prof. Onyia, describing them as a valuable platform through which the SSG continues to impart practical lessons on leadership, governance and public service.

Responding, Prof. Onyia commended Hon. Peter Eze for consistently using his position to promote the growth, development and advancement of young people in Enugu State.

The SSG described Eze as “a square peg in a square hole,” while stressing the importance of creating genuine opportunities for young people to participate meaningfully in leadership and contribute to the development of the nation.

Prof. Onyia, drawing from his own professional experience, also underscored the importance of deliberate knowledge transfer and mentorship in building the next generation of leaders.

He noted that young professionals he mentored during his time at the United Kingdom-Nigeria Infrastructure Facility had continued to excel in their various fields, adding that they had not disappointed him.

The SSG equally applauded Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for his deliberate policy of including, empowering and creating opportunities for young people within the governance structure of Enugu State.

Prof. Onyia described Nnamani as one of the beneficiaries of that policy and expressed appreciation for his representation of Enugu State during his stay in China.

According to him, he had closely followed Nnamani’s activities during the international engagement and was proud of the positive image he projected while representing the state.

The SSG warmly welcomed Nnamani back to Enugu and to the Monday strategic leadership meetings, noting that his contributions had been missed during his absence.

He further encouraged the young media aide to remain committed to continuous self-development, knowledge acquisition and a life dedicated to adding value to society.

In his response, Nnamani expressed profound gratitude to Prof. Onyia for his impactful contributions to the Mbah administration, describing the SSG as a leader whose intellectual depth, energy and commitment have continued to contribute significantly to the successes recorded by the administration.

Nnamani also thanked the SSG for his generous words and mentorship, while reaffirming his loyalty and commitment to the administration.

He pledged to continue pursuing personal growth, professional development and self-improvement, with the ultimate goal of contributing more meaningfully to Enugu State and society at large.

The return visit comes shortly after Nnamani’s participation in the Beijing international training programme, an experience he had earlier described as a defining milestone in his personal and professional development.

The programme provided him with international exposure and fresh insights into chronic disease prevention, policy development and global health challenges, while also giving him an opportunity to interact with participants from different countries.

Nnamani’s return to Enugu and immediate engagement with the state’s top leadership, therefore, marks the beginning of a renewed phase of service, armed with new knowledge, broader perspectives and a strengthened commitment to public service.
