...Five batches completed as government moves to build a smarter, faster and digitally enabled public service

The Enugu State Government has completed the fifth batch of its Civil Servants Digital Literacy Programme, bringing the total number of public servants trained under the initiative to more than 15,000.

The programme is part of the state government's broader strategy to reposition the civil service as a modern, technology-driven institution capable of supporting Enugu's ambition of becoming a $30 billion economy by 2031.

Through the training, participants are being equipped with practical digital skills designed to improve efficiency and productivity in their daily official responsibilities. The areas covered include computer proficiency, digital documentation, spreadsheets and data management, presentation development, online collaboration and cybersecurity awareness.

The initiative is expected to help civil servants work more efficiently, manage information and data more effectively, reduce dependence on paper-based processes and improve the overall quality and speed of public service delivery.

The government said the digital transformation of the civil service is not simply about introducing technology into government offices, but about building the human capacity required to effectively deploy and sustain such transformation.

Under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the administration is therefore placing emphasis on investment in both physical infrastructure and the people and institutions responsible for delivering its development agenda.

The completion of the fifth batch marks another milestone in the administration's effort to create a public service that is better equipped for the demands of a rapidly changing digital economy.

With more than 15,000 civil servants trained across five completed batches, the programme represents a significant step towards creating a more productive, responsive and digitally enabled government workforce.

As Enugu continues its drive towards the $30 billion economy target by 2031, the administration believes that a technologically competent civil service will remain central to translating its vision into measurable and sustainable impact.

15,000+ trained. Five batches completed. One clear direction — building a smarter, more productive and digitally enabled government.
