His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, hosted a strategic sensitization and implementation session on the NELFUND Education Support Programme with the Executive Management of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, led by the MD/CEO, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, alongside Vice Chancellors, Rectors, Provosts, and senior representatives of State and Federal tertiary institutions in Enugu State.
The initiative is being spearheaded by the Enugu State Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the *Enugu MSME & Startup Agency*, to ensure that every eligible student in Enugu State is aware of, supported to apply for, and able to benefit from this critical Federal Government education financing intervention under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Given the low uptake of NELFUND support across Enugu State and the South-East, the State is adopting a deliberate, institution-by-institution approach to drive mass participation, correct misconceptions, and support students through the application and verification process.
Through NELFUND, eligible students can access support for school fees and upkeep, reducing pressure on families, improving student retention, and strengthening institutional fee inflows.
His Excellency emphasized the need for all tertiary institutions in the State to fully key into the programme by setting up dedicated support desks, mobilizing students, assisting with applications, and ensuring prompt institutional verification.
This is about access, opportunity, and ensuring that no eligible Enugu student is left behind.
