The Deputy Chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Enugu State Chapter, and Chairman of Igboeze South Local Government Area, Barr. Ugo-Ferdinand Ukwueze, has expressed confidence that Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah has what it takes to deliver a strong electoral advantage for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the South East.
Ukwueze spoke in Enugu on Sunday while reacting to President Tinubu’s choice of Governor Mbah as his campaign coordinator for the South East, describing the appointment as a clear indication of the confidence the President has in the Enugu Governor’s leadership and political capacity.
According to him, Mbah’s combination of good governance, grassroots connection and administrative competence has positioned him as one of the key political figures capable of effectively mobilising the region.
He said the Governor had demonstrated an ability to translate political vision into practical development, pointing to his administration’s efforts in infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, economic development and human capital investment.
Ukwueze said Mbah’s strong connection with grassroots communities had earned him respect across local governments, traditional institutions, community leadership structures and political circles in the South East.
He described the Governor as a leader with the courage, exposure and organisational capacity required to engage diverse stakeholders and build bridges around the President’s political agenda.
The ALGON Deputy Chairman maintained that Mbah’s appointment would strengthen Tinubu’s political presence in the region, describing the Governor as a trusted political asset whose record of performance and grassroots appeal could contribute significantly to the President’s campaign.
He therefore urged political stakeholders across the South East to support Mbah in the assignment, stressing that his leadership would provide the region with a strong platform for constructive engagement with the Federal Government.
Ukwueze expressed confidence that with Mbah leading the South East campaign structure, the President could expect a well-coordinated, energetic and people-centred mobilisation capable of delivering a decisive electoral advantage for Tinubu in the region.
