...Council Chairman Donates Operational Vehicles
..."APC Returned Senate Seat to Igbo-Eze South, We'll Repay Gov. Mbah in 2027"
— Mayor Ukwueze
Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area came alive with political excitement on Friday, July 3, 2026, as the organic grassroots political movement, G-17 For Peter Mbah, stormed the council headquarters in Ibagwa-Aka for the inauguration of its Local Government, Ward Executives and Polling Unit Canvassers in a colourful ceremony that attracted top political leaders, party stakeholders, traditional leaders, women, youths and supporters from across the sixteen political wards of the council area.
The highpoint of the event was the donation of a brand new operational bus to G-17 For Peter Mbah by the Executive Chairman of Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area, Hon. Barr. Ugo-Ferdinand Ukwueze, as a demonstration of his confidence in the movement's grassroots capacity and unwavering commitment to the re-election of Governor Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and the victory of all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
Presenting the vehicle to the leadership of G-17, the council chairman explained that the donation was aimed at strengthening the movement's grassroots mobilisation activities and easing its operations across communities, wards and polling units within the local government area.
Welcoming the Director-General and members of G-17, Hon. Barr. Ukwueze described the organisation as the best grassroots political support group in Enugu State, with an enviable record of political mobilisation spanning many years.
"I have patiently waited for a day like this. G-17 has a history, a structure and a track record that no other support group can boast of. This movement has produced many notable political leaders over the years. My Deputy Chairman, Lolo Chinwendu Ogbonna, was once the Women Leader of G-17, while the current Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon. Emeka Ajogwu, served as the Coordinator of G-17 in Igbo-Eze South. That tells you the quality of this organisation," he stated.
The chairman observed that the calibre of men and women inaugurated into the various offices were seasoned grassroots mobilisers with proven records of electoral victories.
"These are people with verifiable records of delivering elections. Many of them had quietly withdrawn from active politics, but G-17 has gone back to fish them out and bring them into service again. I am happy they are back because the party needs people like them."
He pledged the full support of the council to G-17, assuring that his administration would work closely with the movement to ensure the successful delivery of all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
According to him, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah has demonstrated uncommon love for Igbo-Eze South, particularly through the return of the Enugu North Senatorial seat to the local government.
"The Governor has remembered us. We will never forget this gesture. We shall reciprocate this love in February 2027 with overwhelming votes for Governor Peter Mbah, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and every APC candidate."
The Deputy Chairman of Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area, Lolo Chinwendu Ogbonna, who formerly served as the Women Leader of G-17, congratulated the newly inaugurated executives and encouraged them to remain steadfast.
She reminded them that commitment to grassroots mobilisation always attracts recognition.
"I am a living testimony that hard work in G-17 is never in vain. My journey through this movement contributed immensely to where I am today. Continue serving diligently because every genuine sacrifice for the party has its reward."
Also speaking, the Leader of the Igbo-Eze South Legislative Council, Hon. Ugwuoke Martins Kelechi, thanked the leadership of G-17 for extending the movement's mobilisation structure to the local government.
He assured that all councillors in the council would collaborate closely with the movement to ensure total victory for APC candidates during the 2027 general elections.
The APC Candidate for the Igbo-Eze South State Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Favour Asogwa, expressed delight over the quality of persons inaugurated by G-17.
"What I have seen today simply tells me that this election is already won. I know what G-17 is capable of doing because the organisation has done it before. I am happy that this formidable movement has been fully reactivated. With G-17, electoral success is assured."
The APC Chairman of Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area, Hon. Ejike Amedu, applauded the organisation for its unique style of political mobilisation.
"G-17 operates differently from every other support group. They deliberately identify credible grassroots men and women who were hitherto abandoned politically and bring them back into active participation. Looking around today, I have seen people who are fully prepared for the task ahead. The party will collaborate with G-17 to ensure that every APC candidate emerges victorious."
Speaking on behalf of the youths, the State Youth Leader of G-17 For Peter Mbah, Hon. Nnamdi Odoh, called on young people across the local government to intensify mobilisation ahead of the elections.
He noted that youths constitute over seventy percent of the voting population and therefore remain critical to the success of the APC.
"The future belongs to the youths. Governor Peter Mbah has demonstrated capacity through visible developmental projects across Enugu State. It is now our responsibility to mobilise massively for continuity."
In her address, the National Women Leader of G-17 For Peter Mbah, Hon. Princess Chinelo Ogbata Ejorh, urged women across the sixteen political wards to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and prepare to defend their votes.
She maintained that women and children remain the greatest beneficiaries of Governor Peter Mbah's people-oriented policies, particularly in education, healthcare, rural development and social welfare, stressing that continuity would guarantee even greater dividends for families across Enugu State.
Delivering his keynote address, the Convener, Board of Trustees Chairman and Director-General of G-17 For Peter Mbah, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah, thanked the chairman for the warm reception accorded to the movement and commended him for donating a brand new bus to strengthen grassroots mobilisation.
Hon. Dr. Mbah described the newly constructed Igbo-Eze South Local Government Secretariat as one of the finest council headquarters in Nigeria.
"I have visited Igbo-Eze South before, but today I almost lost my way because of the massive transformation. This magnificent Local Government Secretariat is truly first of its kind in the history of local government administration in Nigeria. It clearly shows that the chairman is following in the footsteps of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah."
He stressed that the inauguration was not merely a ceremonial gathering but a strategic political engagement designed to deepen grassroots mobilisation across every polling unit.
"We are not here to campaign because Igbo-Eze South is already APC. We are here to strengthen our grassroots structure and prepare for massive mobilisation. This inauguration is an engagement, a call to duty and a mandate for every executive to commence aggressive door-to-door political education."
The Director-General further observed that Igbo-Eze South remains one of the greatest beneficiaries of Governor Peter Mbah's administration.
He highlighted the establishment of 16 Smart Green Schools, 16 fully equipped Type-C Primary Healthcare Centres, road infrastructure, human capital development initiatives and several other landmark projects spread across the sixteen political wards.
Hon. Dr. Mbah further urged the people to reward performance with continuity by voting massively for Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates in 2027.
"President Tinubu has demonstrated genuine commitment to the development of the South-East through strategic appointments, including the appointment of an Igbo son as Minister of Works, the emergence of the Chief of Naval Staff, the Chief of Air Staff and several other federal opportunities. These are clear indications that the South-East is benefiting from being connected to the centre. For these reasons, voting APC from the Presidency to the councillorship is non-negotiable."
The ceremony climaxed with the formal inauguration of the Local Government Executives, Ward Executives and Polling Unit Canvassers of G-17 For Peter Mbah, who collectively pledged to commence immediate grassroots mobilisation, voter education and house-to-house sensitisation across all communities in Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area ahead of the 2027 general elections.
