HOW GOVERNOR PETER MBAH ENDED 30 YEARS OF THIRST IN EMENE AND RESTORED WATER TO NDI ENUGU

For more than 30 years, the taps in Emene were dry.

For more than 30 years, mothers woke up before dawn to trek for water. For more than 30 years, children grew up without knowing what it felt like to turn on a tap and see clean water flow.

Today, that story has changed.

Across Emene, from Godwin Ede Street to the remote corners of the community, tears of joy are flowing alongside the water. The taps that were abandoned by neglect are singing again. And the reason is simple: His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, Governor of Enugu State, kept his word.

*A PROMISE KEPT, A HAPPY PEOPLE RESTORED:*

On the 29th of May 2023, Governor Peter Mbah made a commitment to Ndi Enugu. He said he would take water to every part of Enugu. Many doubted. Water had become a campaign promise that died the day after elections.

But in just 3 years, that promise has become pipes, pumps, and flowing taps.

The 9th Mile 24/7 Water Scheme, producing over 70 Million Litres daily, has done what three decades of previous administrations could not do. It has started restoring dignity to homes, to hospitals, and to businesses. It will end the daily suffering of buying water in tanks and sachets.

In Emene, the joy is too loud to ignore. Women danced in the streets with buckets on their heads. Children played under running taps for the first time in their lives. Fathers stood and watched water fill their drums and said, “God bless Peter Mbah.” The elderly, who had given up hope, now open their taps and weep for joy.

This is not politics. This is life.

*MORE THAN WATER: IT IS ABOUT GOVERNANCE WITH A HUMAN FACE:*

What Governor Mbah has done goes beyond laying pipes. He has restored faith in government.

For 30 years, water was treated as a luxury in Enugu. Administrations came and went, but the taps remained dry. Excuses were plenty. Action was zero.

Governor Mbah came with a business mindset and a servant’s heart. He asked: "If people cannot drink clean water, eat well, or live with dignity, what is government for?"  Then he went to work.

Today in Emene:

Water is at doorsteps. Government teams are bringing water to the entry of buildings so families can do internal piping.

Health is improving. Going forward, no more water borne diseases from dirty sources.

Time is being saved. Mothers and children no longer spend 4 hours or more daily searching for water. They can now go to school, to work, to business.

Hope is back. As one resident put it: _"Since we were born we’ve never seen water like this. Governor Peter Mbah made it possible. We are very, very happy."_

*LEADERSHIP THAT DELIVERS:*

This is the Peter Mbah difference.

Real Work. Real Impact. Real Results You Can See and Touch.

While others made noise, he made water flow.

While others blamed the past, he fixed the future.

While others forgot Emene, he remembered that even the "remote part of Emene" deserves dignity.

From roads to schools, from security to health, the Mbah administration is proving that government can work when it is run with purpose and discipline. But for the people of Emene, water is the most personal proof. Because water is life.

*CONCLUSION: OUR TOMORROW IS FINALLY HERE WITH GOVERNOR PETER MBAH:*

The scenes in Emene tell the whole story.

Women ululating. Men raising hands in prayer. Children shouting with joy. A community that waited 30 years finally saying: "APC na our party, and our Governor dey work, we dey feel am,  we dey see am with our korokoro eyes.". To stop this progress now will be to return to dry taps and broken promises.

To continue is to secure a Greater Enugu where no child goes to bed thirsty.

Thank you, Your Excellency Dr. Peter Mbah, for remembering the forgotten, for restoring what was lost, for proving that leadership is not about talk, but about water running in people’s homes.

Ndi Enugu say: Let’s Do More, Together.  Second Term for Governor Peter Mbah, is non-negotiable.

Support a Second Term for Greater Enugu State.
