The women-led socio-cultural and advocacy organisation called for a thorough investigation and speedy prosecution of anyone found culpable, insisting that violence against children must never be tolerated under any circumstances.
In a press release issued on July 8, 2026, and signed by its Founder and Global President, Dr. Chinemerem Mary Anyi, the association expressed deep shock and outrage over reports that the young girl was allegedly attacked with a razor blade after being accused of breaking prepaid plates while caring for a woman's child.

The leadership of Umuada Awgu Progressive Association Global (a.k.a Umuada Awgu Global) has received with deep shock, sadness, and outrage the disturbing report of the alleged brutal assault on an eight-year-old girl in Enugu State.
According to reports, the young girl, who was said to have been caring for the suspect's child, was allegedly subjected to a horrifying act of cruelty after being accused of breaking some prepaid plates. It is alleged that the woman used a razor blade to inflict multiple cuts on the innocent child's legs and feet, leaving her with severe injuries, excruciating pain, and emotional trauma.
If these allegations are confirmed, such conduct represents a gross violation of the rights and dignity of a child and has no place in any civilized society. No misunderstanding, mistake, or damage to property can ever justify such cruelty against a vulnerable child.
