President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Enugu-born politician, Hon. Ginika Florence Tor, as a member of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC), representing the South-East, in a fresh round of 26 appointments into 10 key federal government agencies and commissions.
The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was announced on Monday in a statement issued by the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga.
Hon. Tor's appointment is being viewed as another significant national assignment for the experienced public administrator, whose career in public service has spanned several strategic federal responsibilities.
Before her latest appointment, she served as the Federal Commissioner representing Enugu State at the Federal Character Commission (FCC) from 2020 to 2025, following her appointment by former President Muhammadu Buhari. During her tenure, she was actively involved in promoting equity, fairness and federal character principles in public service appointments across the country.
She currently serves as the Principal Liaison Officer to the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Benjamin Obiora Nwoye, a position she assumed in April 2026.
As a commissioner of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, Hon. Tor will represent the South-East alongside other newly appointed members, including Dr. Mai Adamu Yau (Borno State), Engr. Lawrence Okoh (Edo State) and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi State).
President Tinubu also reconstituted the leadership of the commission by appointing retired Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman. Other members of the commission include Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian (Benue), Oladele Olatubosun (Oyo) and Yakubu Umar Barde (Kaduna) as commissioners, while former House of Representatives member Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas was appointed Secretary.
The National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission plays a vital role in advising the Federal Government on salary structures, wages, income policies and remuneration matters across the public service, making Hon. Tor's appointment a strategic responsibility in shaping national labour and compensation policies.
Beyond the NSIWC, President Tinubu approved several other high-profile appointments across critical federal institutions. Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose was appointed Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), while Abba Abubakar Aliyu retained his position as the agency's Director-General.
The President also appointed Dr. Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr. Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET), and Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
Additionally, Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Saidu was named Chairman of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, while Engr. Julius Oloro was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM).
Hon. Ginika Florence Tor's appointment has been welcomed by political stakeholders in Enugu and the South-East, who see it as recognition of her administrative experience and a renewed opportunity for the region to contribute meaningfully to national policy formulation through one of the country's most important public service institutions.
