The stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akpugo Ward One in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State, have unanimously endorsed Hon. Uchenna Emmanuel Chukwu as the Consensus Councillorship Candidate of the party ahead of the forthcoming 2026 Local Government Elections in Enugu State.
The decision was reached during the APC Ward Stakeholders Meeting held on Saturday, 23rd May, 2026, at Akpugo Ward One, where party leaders, executives, stakeholders, and faithful gathered to deliberate on the future of the party in the ward.
According to reports from the meeting, Hon. Uchenna Emmanuel Chukwu secured an overwhelming endorsement after polling 38 votes out of the 43 accredited stakeholders who participated in the consensus process. The exercise further witnessed two other councillorship aspirants voluntarily stepping down for him in the interest of party unity, peace, and progress.
The stakeholders noted that the endorsement became necessary following what they described as Hon. Uchenna Emmanuel Chukwu’s consistent loyalty to the party, grassroots mobilization capacity, accessibility to the youths, and dedication towards the growth and stability of APC in Akpugo Ward One and Nkanu West at large.
Consequently, the stakeholders formally recommended his name to the party leadership for the necessary preparations and ratification processes ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections in Enugu State.
The meeting was attended by notable party leaders and stakeholders including Hon. Chief Dr. Mrs. Jane Ifeoma Nwobodo, former Chief of Staff, Government House Enugu, who was ably represented by Mrs. Kate Nnaji; Hon. Chief Barr. Ekene Okenwa, former Executive Chairman of Nkanu West Local Government Area; Hon. Uchenna Callistus Ejim, former Executive Chairman of Nkanu West LGA; Rt. Hon. Chibuike Felix Ani, Councillor representing Obinagu Uwani Akpugo Ward One and Majority Leader of the Nkanu West Legislative Council; Hon. Chief Arinze Nnia Henry Ogbodo, President General of Obinagu Uwani Akpugo and Chairman, Council of Presidents-General of Town Unions in Enugu State, alongside APC Ward Executives and other critical stakeholders of the ward.
Political observers have described the outcome of the meeting as a clear reflection of the popular acceptance and widespread support Hon. Uchenna Emmanuel Chukwu enjoys within the ward.
The development also serves as a rebuttal to earlier reports circulated in some quarters claiming that Engr. Paul Friday Nwodo emerged as the consensus candidate of the party in Akpugo Ward One. Stakeholders at the meeting maintained that Hon. Uchenna Emmanuel Chukwu remains the duly endorsed consensus candidate produced through the officially recognized stakeholders’ process of the ward.
Speaking after the meeting, several party faithful expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the exercise and reaffirmed their commitment to working collectively for the victory of the APC in the forthcoming council elections.
“Indeed, it has ended in praise, and by the special grace of God, it shall continue to end in praise,” one of the stakeholders stated at the close of the meeting.
Once again, congratulations continue to pour in for Hon. Uchenna Emmanuel Chukwu on his emergence as the APC Consensus Councillorship Candidate for Akpugo Ward One.
