…Scholarship Awarded, Two Wheelchairs Donated To Physically Challenged
The visit of the Tomorrow Is Here Movement (THM) to Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area on March 21, 2026, transformed into a full-blown political carnival, marked by massive turnout, electrifying support, and impactful humanitarian gestures.
Led by its President, Hon. Tony Okonkwo, alongside top leaders and members, the grassroots-driven support group arrived the council area in grand style, receiving a rousing welcome from enthusiastic supporters.
A major highlight even before the commencement of the event was the stunning transformation of the local government headquarters. What was once described as one of the most dilapidated council secretariats in the state has now been rebuilt into a magnificent edifice with state-of-the-art facilities, courtesy of the Council Chairman, Barr. Ugochukwu Ferdinand Ukwueze.
The event, which commenced with an opening prayer by the CAN Chairman in the LGA, Rev. S.C. Anioke, attracted a mammoth crowd, including traditional rulers, clergymen, Ohanaeze leaders, market women, youths, political stakeholders, and top government functionaries.
Speaking at the event, the LGA Coordinator of THM, Hon. Darlington Chimezie Mamah, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming turnout, assuring that Igbo-Eze South would deliver massive support for Governor Peter Mbah in 2027.
In his remarks, the Zonal Coordinator of THM in Enugu North and SSA on Youth Mobilisation, Hon. Jude Amunabor, described Igbo-Eze South as the “headquarters” of the Movement, recalling how the council chairman provided the first bus that kickstarted the group at its formative stage.
Also speaking, the APC Zonal Chairman in Enugu North, Hon. Fabian Onah, commended THM for its consistent grassroots advocacy and urged continued support for Governor Mbah and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of 2027.
The Council Chairman, Barr. Ukwueze, while expressing delight at the massive turnout, described THM as a timely and authentic support structure that emerged when doubts trailed the administration’s early days. He further highlighted Governor Mbah’s strides across sectors and reaffirmed the council’s strong historical and political ties with the Governor.
Similarly, APC LGA Chairman, Hon. Ejike Amadu, reiterated the unwavering loyalty of the people to the Mbah administration, noting that the crowd turnout reflected their commitment.
A major engaging segment of the event was the interactive question-and-answer session led by the Deputy Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly and Deputy President of THM, Rt. Hon. Ezenta Ezeani. Participants who demonstrated knowledge of the administration’s policies and projects were rewarded with cash gifts.
In an emotional moment, an SS2 student of El-Shaddai Academy, Miss Ori Juliet Chidimma, received an instant scholarship from THM patron, Chief Chilota Odo (Messiah Na Nsukka), after being moved to tears upon receiving a token.
Further demonstrating its humanitarian touch, THM President, Hon. Tony Okonkwo, donated two wheelchairs to physically challenged attendees—Miss Nweke Chinyere and Master Ezugwu Ikechukwu.
The inauguration of ward and LGA coordinators followed, with Hon. Okonkwo charging them to deepen grassroots engagement and sustain awareness of the administration’s achievements across communities.
Goodwill messages were delivered by notable figures including the Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon. Emeka Ajogu, former lawmaker Hon. Elochukwu Ugwueze, and Hon. Mrs. Favour Asogwa, among others.
The event concluded with an inspection tour of the newly reconstructed local government headquarters, now widely acclaimed for its modern infrastructure and aesthetic appeal.
Dignitaries present included: Hon. Nkiru Ugwuagu; Rt. Hon. Prince Ezenta Ezeani; Dr. Joy Odike; Hon. Chilota Odo; Barr. Chukwudi Amah; Hon. Ossy Aji (Ossy Motors); Hon. Samson Ezea (Director, Media & Publicity, THM); Hon. Jude Amunabor; Hon. Kingsley Ochinanwata; Barr. Seth Nwokolo, among others.
