In November 2025, Enugu State stepped onto a global stage at Norrsken Africa Week 2025—a high-level gathering where founders, investors, and policymakers converged to shape the future of Africa’s innovation economy.
For Enugu, the participation was not ceremonial. It was strategic.
Under the visionary leadership of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the state is deliberately building a globally connected innovation ecosystem structured to attract investment capital, nurture scalable startups, and generate high-value employment opportunities for young people.
At the heart of this transformation is the Enugu MSME & Startup Agency (popularly known as the Enugu SME Center), positioned to serve as the coordinating engine of the state’s innovation drive. The agency is aligning policy direction, digital infrastructure, talent development, and investor engagement into a cohesive, results-oriented framework designed to deliver measurable economic impact.
Central to this bold ambition is the soon-to-be-launched Enugu Tech & Innovation Hub — a flagship platform designed to anchor the state’s technology and startup ecosystem.
The targets are ambitious yet deliberate:
• Supporting over 100 scalable startups annually
• Attracting between $10–15 million in capital within the next 3–5 years
• Creating 3,000–5,000 high-value jobs
• Establishing structured accelerator and investor-readiness programmes
• Integrating Enugu into global venture capital and innovation networks
Stakeholders describe the initiative as structural rather than symbolic — a shift from conversations to concrete systems that support innovation at scale.
With the Enugu Tech & Innovation Hub set to come on stream soon, Enugu is signaling a new phase in its economic evolution — one that places digital innovation, entrepreneurship, and global partnerships at the center of its development strategy.
From Africa’s innovation corridors to the Lion Building in Enugu, the message is clear: the state is not merely participating in Africa’s innovation conversation.
It is positioning itself to lead it.
The next chapter begins soon.
